Malaria Pan/ Pf
Product Information
Intended Use:
Rapid Malaria Pan/Pf (Pan-pLDH/Pf -HRPII) Ag Test is a lateral flow chromatographic immunoassay for the simultaneous detection and differentiation of Pan Specific (Pan pLDH) and Plasmodium falciparum (Pf - HRPII) antigen in human blood specimen.
Principle:
The Rapid Malaria Pan/Pf Antigen Test features a membrane strip with two test lines (Pf and Pan) and a control line (C). After adding blood and assay buffer, detectable Pf HRP2 and/or Pan pLDH antigens react with gold-conjugated antibodies, forming complexes. These complexes create colored bands at the respective test lines, indicating a positive result. The control line serves as a procedural control, ensuring its appearance for a valid negative result.
Testing Procedure
Importance to know
Warnings and Precautions
- Please read the instruction carefully before performing the test.
- Do not use the test after the expiration date.
- Immediately carry out the test after removing the test device from the pouch.
- Do not mix or interchange the specimen sample.
Limitation
- The test detects Malaria Plasmodium sp. antigens, but false results may occur.
- Definitive clinical diagnosis should consider all findings, not rely on a single test.
- In mixed infections, both 'PF' and 'pan' bands will be positive.
- 'Pan' band usually turns negative after successful anti-malaria therapy.
- Repeat the test 5-10 days after starting treatment for accurate results.
- In P. falciparum infection, HRP-2 band may be absent in carriers.
- HRP-2 levels persist up to 15 days post-treatment; 'Pan' band monitors therapy success.
- Positive HRP-2 and negative 'Pan' band may indicate post-treatment malaria or untreated cases; retest after 2 days.
